Clark Atlanta junior awarded Hercules Scholarship

This week’s Tom Joyner Foundation Hercules Scholar is Darrell Cummings, Jr. 

Darrell is a rising junior, sociology major from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

This honor student has a 3.8 GPA and plans to become a counselor in a public school system.

At Clark Atlanta, Darrell is a member of the Student Chapter of the NAACP, serves as a peer tutor, volunteers at a local community center, and is a member of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society.

Darrell is committed to making a difference for the next generation.

This week’s Tom Joyner Foundation Hercules Scholar is Deont’e Ragland.

Deont’e is a junior, business administration major, marketing minor from Largo, Maryland.

Deont’e plans to have a career in the fashion industry focusing on marketing research for brand development.

At Clark Atlanta, Deont’e is a Student Ambassador, member of the Spanish Club, the Marketing Club, and serves as a peer tutor.

Clark Atlanta University named August School of the Month

The Tom Joyner Foundation August 2014 school of the Month is Clark Atlanta University. During the month of August, the Foundation will focus its efforts on raising scholarship funds for the university and its students.

Huston-Tillotson sophomore awarded Hercules Scholarship

This Week’s Tom Joyner Foundation Hercules Scholar is Ernest Smith. 

Ernest is a sophomore, sociology major from Forth Worth, Texas. 

This future counselor for troubled teens plans to become an advocate for teens and help them become productive citizens.   

At HT, Ernest is a member of the track team and serves as a peer tutor.

Huston-Tillotson sophomore awarded Hercules Scholarship

This week’s Tom Joyner Foundation Hercules Scholar is Joseph Reese. 

Joseph is a sophomore, music education major from Somerville, Texas.

Joseph is an honor student and future teacher who plans to pursue his passion as a recording artist. 

At HT, Joseph is a founding member of Men of Valor and Excellence, serves as a section leader for the HT Concert Choir, and mentors at a local community center.

Huston-Tillotson junior recipient of Hercules Scholarship

This week’s Tom Joyner Foundation Hercules Scholar is Arsenio Brown. 

Arsenio is a junior, sociology major, from Newark, Calif. 

This honor student and future personal injury attorney plans to have a successful career and support his community.

At HT, Arsenio is president of the Delta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, served as Junior Class president, will serve as Senior Class president in the fall, and still finds time to volunteer at a local school.

Texas Southern rising sophomore awarded Hercules Scholarship

This week’s Tom Joyner Foundation Hercules Scholar is Keilon Robinson, Jr. 

Keilon is a rising sophomore, double majoring in chemistry and mathematics, from Houston, Tex.

This honor student has a 3.91 GPA and plans to become a petroleum engineer.

At TSU, Keilon is a member of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, the Urban Academic Village, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the American Chemistry Society, and the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemist and Chemical Engineers.

Texas Southern sophomore recipient of Hercules Scholarship

This week’s Tom Joyner Foundation Hercules Scholar is Derrick Smallwood. 

Derrick is a sophomore, finance major from DeSoto, Texas.

This future financial analyst will continue to learn and advise others to secure their future.

At TSU, Derrick is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Freeman Honors College, and the Golden Key Honor Society.

Derrick still finds time to volunteer at a local community center and serve as a peer tutor on campus.

Texas Southern sophomore recipient of Hercules Scholarship

Jared Artmore of Texas Southern has been named this week’s Tom Joyner Foundation “Hercules Scholar”. 

Jared is a sophomore, Pre-Pharmacy major from Beaumont, Tex.

This future pharmacist plans to learn and advise in the pharmacy and medical fields.

At TSU, Jared is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Freeman Honors College, the Urban Academy, the Academic Village, and plays the tuba in the TSU Wind Ensemble.
